Hey guys! There’s a lot going on in my life right now, so I thought I’d share with you! First, and probably biggest, I will be graduating from college on Saturday with a degree in Microbiology, which is a lot of things, and exciting isn’t even the most prominent. I’m getting tired of people asking what I’m doing after graduation, mostly because I don’t have any long term plans and don’t know how to answer them!
Towards the end of May I will be working for an archaeology camp as a counselor, living in and maintaining a primitive camp for ~6 weeks while making sure a bunch of middle and high schoolers don’t hurt themselves. This is something I did two summers ago as well, and had a lot of fun with, so I’m looking forward to it!
After that it’s a little more wide open. I ~might~ have short-term research lab assistant job for the last part of summer, and then there’s nothing, tentative or otherwise. I am of course looking hard for a job! I’ve realized in the last few months that although I love microbiology, all the jobs that really sound interesting and rewarding for me are in environmental science, so I’m applying to positions in both fields and hoping for the best. (BIIIIG long shot here, but if any of you readers have a connection in either field, hit me up!)
As a result of all this uncertainty, I have no idea where I’ll be living in the next few months. My lease here ends in July, and I know I can stay with my parents for a little, but that’s a short term solution at best and recipe for disaster at worst. So, exciting and nerve-wracking all at once. My favorite job that I’ve applied for so far is in California, which would be a huge move for me – I’ve never lived farther West than San Antonio!
Anyway, hopefully this gives you a better idea of who I am and where I am in life. I like to maintain a fair amount of anonymity on this blog, so I try to stay away from identifying details when I can. Sorry for the vagueness!
